Reverend Michael J. Jones is in his 16th year as pastor at the Greater Rock of Ages Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago, Illinois. Prior to his work in ministry, Michael Jones worked for the Cook County Sheriff’s Department for 20 years. During his first 8 years on the force, he worked in the Department of Corrections as an officer in the Psychiatric Department. Within the Chicago Sheriff Department, Jones served in several areas, including Gangs, Narcotics, Vice, and Special Victims Unit, and was also on loan to the federal Drug Enforcement Agency, as well as the FBI for undercover work. He also spent 6 years on the SWAT team. 

Reverend Jones has also mentored Chicago youth, showing them a productive and positive alternative to that of the destructive and violent gang lifestyle.

Jones has also worked with the Chicago Public School system and provided educational services for children with special needs.
